Brentford boss Andy Scott has revealed he will open talks with Tottenham Hotspurs boss Harry Redknapp next week over extending midfielder John Bostock’s stay at Griffin Park.

The 17-year-old has been in sparkling form since switching to west London on a month’s loan, scoring two goals on his debut and setting up Charlie MacDonald for the winner against Colchester United last week.

Pinning the former Crystal Palace youngster down to a longer-term deal is top of Scott’s priorities ahead of the busy Christmas period, as the Bees boss looks to re-shuffle his pack in the January sales.

And Scott, who is also eyeing a lunch date with Arsene Wenger to keep Polish keeper Wojciech Szczseny at the club, is confident he will get his man.

“I’m meeting with Harry next week to talk about John staying with us and we are hopeful we will be able to extend his stay,” he said.

A possible stumbling block could be Bostock’s continued involvement with the Spurs U18 squad’s FA Youth Cup campaign, which has affected preparatios for this weekend’s big clash with Leeds United.

The teenager played a full part in his side’s 1-0 third round up win at Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night having already spent Monday and Tuesday training with his parent club.

Leeds would be Bostock’s eighth match in less than a month and Scott thinks it is something that needs to be taken into consideration in the future.

“The terms of his loan mean John spends the first two days of the week with Spurs when we don’t have a mid-week game and that he is available for the youth cup,” he added.

“They want to do well in that competition. They have some quality youngsters and want to show them off, so it is only right he plays.

“It has been a bit of a blow for us this week because he has not been here all week and had a long journey home from Wigan to contend with.

“We’ll have to see how he shapes up. It is something we’ll have to think about.”
