Former Harlequins lock Billy Davison admits he is excited about the prospect of pulling on an England shirt on Friday night, but he is not holding out much hope of getting any game time.

The veteran Cobham head coach is part of the England Legends squad to face Ireland Legends at the Stoop in a veritable who’s who of British rugby.

World Cup winners Neil Back, Mike Catt, Jason Robinson, Josh Lewesy and Quins legend Jason Leonard are all in the 28-man red rose squad captained by Martin Corry and coached by Brian Ashton.

They face an Ireland team containing Rob Henderson, Paul Burke, David Humphreys and Shane Byrne as they bid to raise money in aid of The Matt Hampson Trust and The Paralysed Rugby Players' Fund.

And Davison says he isn’t sure what he has done to be in such exhalted company.

“I’m very excited about the prospect of being involved although I’m not too sure how it has come about, “ he said.

“I was invited to play in a similar team for a charity sevens tournament in Dubai and my name has just stuck on the email list I think.

“I’m not sure how much time I’ll get because I think my squad number is 31, but it will be good to get a run around in a game where there is no pressure.”
