Sutton United reserves have reached the final of the Surrey Premier Cup after thumping Met Police 5-0 in their semi-final.
Police missed a chance in the first five minutes while Sutton’s Jerson Dos Santos and Daniel Harding then had shots well saved.
But, after a scare when Sutton had to clear the ball off the line, the hosts went ahead in the 23rd minute.
Chris Beard converted a penalty after the referee had spotted a handling offence as a corner came in from the right.
Police came close to an equaliser with a shot dragged just wide of the post, but seven minutes before the break Harding made it 2-0 with a shot on the turn after Tommy Kavanagh had knocked the ball down in to his path.
When, in the first minute of the second half, Dos Santos capitalised on some hesitation between the goalkeeper and a defender, United had the game in a firm grip.
Kavanagh soon added a fourth with a curling shot form the edge of the penalty area, and after Paul Smith had made two excellent saves to preserve the clean sheet we created several more chances, with Harry Ottaway, Harding and Dos Santos all going close before Chris Sessegnon turned just outside the penalty area and crashed home a fine shot to round off the victory.
