Boss Andy Scott has backed on-loan goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny to bounce back from his MK Dons nightmare sooner rather than later.
The 19-year-old Arsenal star was at fault for two goals in Saturday’s thrilling 3-3 draw at Griffin Park, which saw the Bees come from behind three times to secure a point.
Szczesny let James Tunnicliffe’s long throw-in slip through his grasp to present Aaron Wilbraham with his side’s opener before Sam Wood slotted the first of Brentford’s three equalisers.
And he was at fault again as Wilbraham netted what he thought would be a 90th minute winner from Tunnicliffe’s cross, after Ben Strevens had earlier levelled Jermaine Easter’s penalty.
Carl Cort spared the Gunners loanee’s blushes from close-range moments later and Scott is confident Szczesny - in fine form since arriving at the club in November - can put the experience behind him in time for Tuesday’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.
“Wojciech has saved us in many a game so far and he’s made an honest mistake,” he said.
“He’ll get over it and be a better keeper for it. We’re all in it together and we pulled out a final goal to make sure it wasn’t too bad.
“For a 19-year-old to come in having not played a league game before, he has been exceptional. Everyone makes mistakes, but as a keeper it is highlighted a little more.
“He’s an honest lad and will be better for the experience. Mentally, he will know how to cope with it. Hopefully on Tuesday he will be coming for the balls again because I know he will get them.”
