Andy Scott admits he is losing patience with Brentford’s inconsistencies and wants them resolved for this weekend’s trip to struggling Stockport County on Saturday.
The Bees followed up draws with promotion chasing Leeds United and MK Dons with a poor performance in a 3-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night.
A red card for Alan Bennett and injuries to Leon Legge and Mark Phillips compounded the misery, which leaves Brentford only four points above the drop - albeit with at least three games in hand on their rivals.
Scott’s men - who have now won only once in their last eight league games - have performed well against League One’s leading lights, but it is their record against the teams around them in the bottom half of the table.
And the manager expects another difficult task at the weekend.
“We knew this season wasn’t going to be all good stuff from us this season, because we are inconsistent,” he said.
“We’ve got players performing at this level for the first time and we will inevitably will suffer dips in form, which can alter the dynamic of the whole team.
“We’ve played pretty well for the majority of games, but when we have lost this season it has been more a case of us giving it away.
“It is a horrible pitch at Stockport so we are going to have to adapt quickly and put in a performance.”
Brentford’s next three games: Mar 20 Stockport County (a), 23 Colchester Utd (a), 27 Leyton Orient (h).
