Terry Brown has given his personal thanks to the dozen players released in this week's Kingsmeadow cull as AFC Wimbledon start their plans for next season.

The likes of keeper James Pullen, who joined the Dons in January 2008, were among those cast aside.

And boss Brown had only good things to say about his departing players.

He said: "James has been instrumental in getting us promoted twice over the last couple of seasons and I have a lot of time for him.

"He is a first class goalkeeper.

"He has been a great servant to this club.

"There are many more like him - Ben Judge and Alan Inns both played a major role in our Blue Square South triumph and with both of those and Paul Lorraine leaving that requires a major defensive reshuffle.

"Then there are those that have made an impact over a shorter period of time, like Will Hendry, Elliott Godfrey, Derek Duncan, Jay Conroy, Ross Montague and Glenn Poole.

"But the simple fact is we have to get even younger as a squad, both for on the field and financial reasons.

"Everybody who is leaving gets our thanks and I am sure the supporters feel the same way."
