Brentford boss Andy Scott has told Karleigh Osbourne he has two more games to rescue his Bees career, despite a recent run of good form.

The 22-year-old, out of contract in the summer, has been one of the stars of Brentford’s 11 match unbeaten run since coming in to partner defensive rock Leon Legge in the back four in place of injured Pim Balkestein.

Scott, who had a training ground bust-up with Osbourne last month, has withheld the offer of a new deal on the basis the youngster proves his consistency at League One level.

And despite impressing since returning to the starting line-up against Stockport County, the Griffin Park chief has reminded him there is still work to do.

“Karleigh knows the situation,” said Scott.

“He has done well, but has got to show consistency over a long period until we talk about a new contract.

“We haven’t offered him anything yet. If he keeps performing well between now and the end of the season, then we will sit down and talk again about his future.”

And the boss reminded other players with doubts hanging over their futures, it is his way or the highway.

“We have been playing well and earning a lot of plaudits,” Scott added.

“The ones playing in the team are the ones that have talent everything on board, have bought into what we are trying to do and are playing the way we want them to.

“The players that think they know best are no longer at the club. There are no grey areas with me and players have to respond to the way I want things done.”

Scott is hopeful striker Carl Cort will put to paper on a new contract before the end of the season having proved he is capable of playing a regular part in Brentford’s League One campaign next season.

But the manager says he will get more for his money next season from a player who has been given his own training schedule to counter the effects of a long-standing knee problem.

“Carl came to us battling back from injury and I think we are just starting to see what Carl can give us with a full pre-season under his belt,” he said.

“We’ve made him an offer and with all that has gone on this season and what we have done for him, I’d like to think we can come to an agreement.

“He started 15 games this season, but I think he has got to be looking to start at least ten more games than that next year.”

Players already under contract next season: Charlie MacDonald, Alan Bennett, Kevin O’Connor, Marcus Bean, David Hunt, Sam Saunders, Ben Strevens, Danny Foster, Sam Wood, Leon Legge, Myles Weston, Cleveland Taylor, Ryan Blake.
