Brentford manager Andy Scott reckons Swindon Town’s promotion campaign is a blueprint of hope for the rest of League One.

Danny Wilson’s Robins are still in the hunt for automatic elevation to the Championship have spent the end of last season fearful of the drop into League Two - despite the goals of Simon Cox.

Swindon have unearthed an equally potent strike force in Billy Paynter and Charlie Austin, and are assured of a top six finish with two games of the season to go.

The Bees have targeted a top ten finish in their first season since winning the League Two title and boss Scott, who takes his side to the County Ground on Saturday, says Swindon are an example he’d like to follow.

“Danny has done a fantastic job. They were struggling at the bottom last year and are now still in the hunt for promotion,” he said.

“What they have done gives everyone in this league hope that they can challenge the bigger teams. That is where we want to be next season.

“They have made some good signing and Charlie Austin has proved he can score goals at any level.

“That is probably where we have fallen short this season. We haven’t scored enough goals and that is some thing we need to look at over the summer.”

But that doesn’t mean the Bees, who have performed well against sides in the top ten this season, won’t be a threat to Swindon’s hopes at the weekend.

“Leeds, Charlton and Millwall will be looking at this game knowing it is going to be tough for Swindon,” he added.

“We are 11 unbeaten so far and want to make that 13. We can go there nice and relaxed and give a good go.”
