Met Police 4-4 AFC Wimbledon (Met Police win 4-3 on penalties)

Terry Brown blasted the worst defensive performance he has ever witnessed as the season finale went the way of form.

Ryman South Met Police came from behind three times to lift the London Senior Cup at Harrow Borough.

They did it from the penalty spot after a truly woeful collapse ruined send offs for Ben Judge and Elliott Godfrey, chucking away the chance of silverware in the process.

Fed-up manager Brown said: “I think this game summed up the last few months. It wasn’t a game too far, more like six.

“It’s difficult to be constructive about it. I have to say, that is the worst defending I have ever seen from any of my sides. In the last 15 years, I can’t remember teams scoring goals so easily against us.

“We played one bit of football, when we scored our fourth goal. Apart from that, we had Danny Kedwell and Danny Kedwell. There was nothing to like in that performance and it was a poor way to end the season – I expected better.

“What I’m not going to do is slag people off. We wanted a trophy to take back to Kingsmeadow and I’m disappointed for people like Judgey and Godders. I would have liked us to win something to remember them by. It’s sad that we’ve failed for them as they’ve worked so hard.”

The Dons went ahead after 18 minutes following Kedwell’s sharp finish but Gary Drewitt put the Police on terms before Luke Moore tapped home to seal a 2-1 lead going into the break.

It was 3-1 when Godfrey dispatched his penalty but Drewitt gave Met hope with the Dons defence sleeping again.

Five minutes from time, the unthinkable happened when defender Vernon Francis forced extra time.

With four minutes of that remaining, Ricky Wellard surely clinched the cup after great link-up play between Moore and Kedwell.

But Wimbledon wilted just a minute later. Steve Sutherland struck to take it to penalties.

Godfrey and Jack Stafford both missed as Jimmy Cooper’s team took home the trophy.
