AFC Wimbledon 4-0 Bath City
Terry Brown believes the Dons are finally getting it right in the first half after ruthlessly disposing of Bath City on Saturday.
In arguably one of their best performances since the start of last season, Wimbledon scored twice in each half to keep their noses in front at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier.
Sammy Moore and Ismail Yakubu, with a firm header, put the hosts two goals to the good before the break.
It was the turn of Christian Jolley and Danny Kedwell, yet again on the mark with his eighth of the campaign, to get the goals flowing after the re-start.
But it was the first half performance in particular that pleased the manager.
He said: “We've been a bit slow to get going sometimes but we were very good in the first half. We took the game by the scruff of the neck and didn't look back after scoring.
“It was the best first half so far this season from the boys. We did all the hard work so we were able to go out and enjoy the second period. Bath didn't come here to defend, credit to them. But we were able to break them down and score our goals.
“I don't think 4-0 flattered us at all. We passed the ball well and we took our chances when they arrived.
“It was a very pleasing performance that keeps us on top of the league. I'm delighted.
“We're not paying too much attention to the table at this stage. We won't until the tenth game has been and gone and we'll see where we are after that.”
Romans manager Adie Britton said Wimbledon were worthy winners as Bath struggle to adapt to life in Non-League's top flight since winning the Blue Square South play-offs last May.
“I thought we could give them a game and maybe get something out of it,” he said. “For the first fifteen minutes we defended well then we let in a silly goal and they got another shortly afterwards. Once they got the third it was a matter of damage limitation.”
