Bees boss Andy Scott has assured his squad members their chance will come this season, but warned they must take it when it does.
Brentford were held to a 0-0 draw at Bristol Rovers on Saturday as Pirates keeper Mikkel Andersen almost single handedly kept the Scott’s men at bay.
Sam Saunders, Nicky Forster, Marcus Bean and Sam Wood were among those frustrated observers on the bench as the Griffin Park chief left his starting eleven unchanged throughout the encounter.
But Scott, who saw Leon Legge, David Hunt and Robbie Simpson ruled out through injury, believes their time will come providing they remain patient.
“Everybody on the bench and those who are injured have a big part to play this season,” he said.
“There’s going to come a time when they are playing because someone is injured or suspended.
“They need to take their chance and that is what having a squad is about.
“Being a successful club is about being together, growing together, improving together and pushing the person in front of you.
“Alex Ferguson has done it for years at Man Utd with his management of players and rotation and playing them.
“We haven’t quite got that luxury yet, but we’ve certainly got a squad which is pushing the one in front and I’m more than happy to play anyone in the squad in my side.
It was Brentford’s third successive cleansheet and third game without defeat since a 3-1 humbling at the hands of Rochdale last month.
And, despite seeing his player’s draw a blank at the other end, the manager is confident his forwards will come good.
“We’re a team that is progressing and improving rapidly and it won’t be long before we give someone a bit of a hiding,” he added.
“I think we had enough chances to win four or five games. The saves the goalkeeper made were point blank and he didn’t even palm them out to our players.
“We could have hit the target a bit more, but I think we would have won any other game.
“We need to take the positives out of it and there were a hell of a lot of them.”
