Brentford winger Myles Weston will not be distracted if his sparkling display against Everton puts him in the shop window, he’s just focused on winning for the Bees.

The 22-year-old was a thorn in the side of the Toffeemen as boss Andy Scott’s men dumped Premier League opposition out of the Carling Cup on Tuesday.

Weston’s impressive run and cross picked out Gary Alexander for Brentford’s equaliser and he gave Everton full-back Seamus Coleman a torrid time.

The former Notts County man even found time to clear two goal bound efforts off the line and to slot the first of his side’s decisive shoot-out penalties.

And Weston says his priority is to do his best for the Bees and then see what happens.

“Everton play against the best in the world every week and if you get the one off chance to go against players like that you’ve got to prove you are good enough,” he said.

“I had one thing in my mind and that was to beat Coleman every time. That is what I tried to do.

“I don’t know who was watching , but I try to play good in every game. If someone is watching I’m not going to change the way I play.

“I just go out to play well. Not to try and impress anyone, but to play well for my team and to carry on winning.”

Brentford - 19th in League One - rode their luck, but deserved their victory on Tuesday and Weston believes it is the sort of performance they need to repeat to climb the table.

“We shouldn’t fear anyone. If we go out and play like we did against Everton, with that heart and belief we can beat anyone,” he added.

“We’ve been consistent - we haven’t lost in five games - and if we can take this performance into the league we can go way higher.

“It is still early days and our team is very good. We can definitely get up there.”
