Quins scrum-half Danny Care reckons it is more than individual tries that get you noticed and is out to improve his second favourite past-time - creating them.

The 23-year-old is locked in a battle with Northampton Saints number nine Ben Youngs for a starting slot in Martin Johnson’s England World Cup squad.

The Leicester Tigers youngster has caught the eye with a try-scoring international debut in a 21-20 triumph over Australia in Sydney and has a Aviva Premiership score to his name against London Wasps already this season.

Care, who has 16 tries in 74 appearances for Quins, is yet to cross the whitewash this term but says that is not the only string to his bow.

“I’ve only played three of the first four games and already a I think my basics have improved, while my little extras around the ruck are still there,” he said.

“The Quins squad brings the best out of my game and this is best club for me as they play a style that suits my game.

“I enjoy setting up tries - I enjoy a good celebration - as much as I do scoring them and that is something I try to take into every game.”

Care will be in the mix for the autumn international programme as the countdown to New Zealand 2011 begins to gather pace, but the only thing on his mind is inspiring an improvement in his club’s fortunes.

“Of course we’d like to have been in the top six by now, but it could have been so much better. We could be four wins from four,” he added.

“I’m not thinking beyond the Newcastle game at the moment. It will be a big physical challenge and we could get the backlash from their defeat to London Irish.”
