Fulham boss Mark Hughes reckons a positive mental attitude is behind the Cottagers’ unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign.
Hughes’ men were held 1-1 at West Ham United as Clint Dempsey returned to haunt England goalkeeper Rob Green at Upton Park before Frederic Piquionne’s second-half equaliser.
It means Fulham are unbeaten in seven Premier League encounters thus far but crucially have only managed one win.
But Hughes insists that statistic will change providing they stick to their guns.
“Away from home we’re trying to be positive,” said the manager.
“Obviously it’s frustrating to get the draws, but it’s only a matter of time - considering the quality we’re producing - that we turn those draws into three point victories.
“On Saturday against West Ham we certainly did enough to win the game. We’re not setting up to get men behind the ball and frustrate teams – we’re attack minded and trying to break the lines to cause the opposition problems.
“That’s why we’re unbeaten - because we’re positive. It’s only Manchester United and ourselves that remain unbeaten.
Hughes will have the international break to get some of his walking wounded back to full fitness before welcoming in-form Tottenham Hotspurs to Craven Cottage.
The former Manchester City boss took over from Roy Hodgson in the summer and admits he couldn’t be happier.
“I’m really pleased with my decision to come to Fulham,” he added.
“I think a lot of people don’t realise what a good club Fulham is and the talent that exists – not just in the team, but in the people surrounding the club as well.
“I’ve been really surprised by that level of quality and that makes my job less stressful in terms of how you spread your energy.”
Fulham’s next three games: Oct 16 Tottenham Hotspurs (h), 23 West Brom (a), 30 Wigan Athletic (h).
