Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has revealed midfielder Toumani Diagouraga’s may not win his fitness battle in time for the start of the season – but he will not be far behind.

The 24-year-old damaged knee ligaments at Hampton & Richmond Borough last month and had feared a lengthy lay-off.

But specialists this week decided he did not require surgery and Rosler expects the Frenchman to be ready for action in September.

“He is naturally very fit, so I don’t think he’ll to have to do too much to get fully fit when he is back,” he added.
