Quins director of rugby Conor O’Shea paid tribute to his medical staff after their quick thinking saved second row Ollie Kohn from a lengthy injury lay-off at the weekend, writes Stuart Amos.
Kohn was forced out of Friday’s 25-17 Heineken Cup triumph over Connacht at the Stoop with a bicep problem.
But an on-field diagnosis from medics meant the 30-year-old could be booked in for surgery the following morning, meaning he should be back in action sooner than anticipated.
“The quicker you can diagnose these problems the better,” said O’Shea.
“The fact Ollie could have surgery so soon means his recovery time will be more like eight weeks rather than three months.”
Centre George Lowe also limped out of the game with an ankle problem and will be sidelined until the new year.
“It is a blow, but we have people ready to step in,” added O’Shea.
