Brentford defender Karleigh Osborne is fully committed to getting the Bees into the Championship, despite his Griffin Park future remaining in limbo.

The 23-year-old, in the final year of his current deal, will sit out Saturday’s visit of league leaders Charlton Athletic due to injury, knowing they tried to tempt him to the Valley in the summer.

Osborne is yet to be offered new terms by boss Uwe Rosler, who has warned players in a similar position with the Bees that they have work to do to secure their Brentford futures.

And the youth team graduate, who is in his eighth season with the League One play-off chasers, is prepared to let his football do the talking when he returns to action.

“Charlton put a few bids in for me in the summer, but I was happy to stay here and that is how it worked out,” he said.

“Any game with Charlton is going to be a big one, so I’m disappointed to miss it. I’m disappointed to miss any game because I love playing for the club.

“All I can do is play my heart out for the club and see what happens. The club will decide if they want to give me something or not, and things will go from there.

“I’m happy here and it all depends on the opportunities that may or may not come up.

“My only focus is getting the club up to the Championship where I believe it deserves to be. Brentford feels like home. I just want to play at the highest level I can, but the main thing is getting the club up there."

Sam Saunders did his chances of extending his stay at Griffin Park no harm on Saturday, but Rosler believes his players need to be consistent to land new deals.

“I’ve told all the players who will be out of contract that I would like to see them performing,” he added.

“Everybody knew that from day one and the players are taking to the challenge.

“Sam realises he has to get a good run of games and then I’m sure we will put a new contract in front of him.”

Brentford host either Cambridge United or Wrexham in the next round of the cup on December 3, and Osborne hopes to be fit.

“Hopefully, I’ll be back in the first week of December to help the club push on.”
