It may be the biggest match of the weekend in Richmond, but for London Scottish hooker Adam Kwasnicki, Saturday’s trip to former club London Welsh is just another weekend in west London.

The 25-year-old Performance Physiotherapy physiotherapist missed the weekend’s 63-0 British & Irish Cup drubbing at Llanelli, but is expected to feature as Scottish Exiles make the short trip to Old Deer Park.

Kwasnicki, who signed for the Dragons aged 18, left the club two seasons ago bound for Barking, before pitching up at the Athletic Ground for last season’s National Division One title triumph.

But while he admits this weekend’s Championship showdown is the reason he plays the game, it is no more significant than the rest of the games on the fixture list this season.

“We approach every game the same. We go out to win every game and this weekend is no different,” he said.

“It is a really big day for both clubs but it is one of those games every rugby player wants to play in like so many in this league.

“I didn’t particularly look out for this game, but it is the sort of match you want to be involved in.”

The cup competition aside, Scottish go into the game in good form having beaten Esher last time out in the Championship after near misses against Nottingham and Plymouth Albion.

And Kwasnicki, whose physio practice is based at the Athletic Ground, believes head coach Simon Amor’s side are ready to build on that success.

“We want to be higher in the league. We want to be one of the top sides in the division and everyone is working hard to get there,” he added.

“It was nice to get that win after coming close several times and I hope to be involved again this week.

“It is a very tight league and has been for a few years now, so we are having to work hard for every game.”

Saturday’s match kicks-off at 2pm.
