Terry Brown hailed midfielder Sammy Moore for his battling performance on Saturday as AFC Wimbledon drew 1-1 with Swindon Town.

Sammy Hatton’s early deflected strike was cancelled out by Alan Connell in the second half as the Dons put in a much-improved performance against Paolo Di Canio’s men.

Moore, a doubt for the game with an ankle knock sustained a week before against Scunthorpe United, epitomised the Wimbledon spirit and earned raved reviews from his manager.

“For me, the man of the match was Sammy Moore,” said Brown.

“He picked up every little piece from the forwards and whenever there was danger about he came out with the ball and used it magnificently well.

“He covered every inch of the park.”

It was thrilling game that could have gone either way but the Dons were lucky to escape a penalty shout in the dying minutes as Jack Midson appeared to trip Paul Caddis.

“I thought the referee was 100 per cent right from where I was,” said Brown.

“If you were on the other side you might have had a better view than we did but none of us had a better view than the referee.

“I thought in the first half we played as well as we have played for a while and showed a lot of confidence against one of the best footballing sides.

“They will be top three or in the play-offs, no doubt about it.

“I didn’t want to get beat because our home form has not been that great but the performance and the work rate the boys put in, we deserved something out of it.”
