Brentford boss Uwe Rosler may be looking to rest some players ahead of the busy Christmas fixture schedule, but one man he dare not do without is midfielder Jonathan Douglas.

The former Leeds United man has made 20 league and cup starts so far this season as the Bees prepare to host Blue Square Premier Wrexham in the FA Cup second round tomorrow.

They travel to north London rivals Barnet in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Tuesday with a realistic cha-nce of reaching the final for the second year in succession.

Rosler is wary the fixture pile up could take its toll, but Douglas will not be sacrificed.

“He has been our most consistent performer week in, week out,” he said.

“Some players have played a lot since August and need a rest.

“He has played a lot of games, but he is fine and is very important to us.”

And Rosler has admitted the next four days are very important for the club.

“We are keen to progess in both competitions,” he added.

“The money the FA Cup can generate is huge and is very important to us.

“We take it game by game, and field teams to win both games.”
