Sutton United boss Paul Doswell has told fans not to worry about Craig Dundas’s fitness as he will be firing on all cylinders come the start of the campaign.
 

The 31-year-old looked lead-legged in the 5-3 defeat to Leyton Orient last Wednesday, but it seemed like he was getting back to his normal self with a robust display in midfield in the 2-2 draw with Eastleigh on Saturday.
 

Dundas is expected to start for United in the centre of the park this term having impressed in a holding position last season.
 

And his manager has backed the former Hampton & Richmond Borough striker to return to his fighting weight in no time.
 

He said: “Craig has had an exuberant summer. He enjoyed himself with us in Marbella and then had 10 days with his wife.
 

“The thing with Craig is he will come back like that, but he can shed a stone by the time the season starts.
 

“He is probably a stone overweight at the moment, but he uses his reserves of fat well because by the first game he is ready to go.”
 

Harry Beautyman and skipper Jamie Stuart gave Sutton a 2-0 half-time advantage against Eastleigh on Saturday, before six changes at the break from Doswell gave the visitors the upper hand.
 

Eastleigh duly levelled things although United still had their chances to win the game, and Doswell later admitted he was looking forward to seeing his men play a bit more football over the coming weeks.
 

“We deliberately set pre-season up so we started with two tough games against Leyton Orient and Eastleigh where we knew the boys would get a good run,” he said.
 

“We have now got some games against teams where we would expect toget a bit more of the ball.”
Sutton next host Kingstonian at Gander Green Lane on Tuesday.
