Have to say with the sun shining that the world has felt a little funny this week, writes Stuart Amos.
 

And nowhere has felt more odd than the weird and wonderful world that is Brentford Football Club.
 

For a start there has been no one around. Uwe Rosler took his men off to his homeland for a  pre-season tour, which has so far produced 1-1 draws at FC Erzgebirge and ZFC Meuselwitz.
 

Director of youth development Ose Aibangee’s boys have been going great guns at the Milk Cup tournament in Ireland, beating Liverpool on penalties in the semi-final after the game finished 1-1.
 

The Bees beat  Everton in the final yesterday, a team they had lost 3-2 to earlier in the competition.
 

I can’t remember the last time Brentford had a pre-season tour. The only time the team usually go away together is for the odd round of golf or a boozy week in Las Vegas as reward for having won the league.
 

Trips abroad prior to league hostilities is often the preserve of clubs further up the footballing food chain.
 

The Bees are clearly moving up in the world and it is little wonder expectations are high for the forthcoming League One campaign.
 

Whisper it quietly, but there are many who believe missing out on promotion – or a play-off spot at the least – would be deemed a failure.
 

The advantage Rosler has at this stage is the fact some of his new signings have spent time at the club already in the form of loan spells. He knows what he is getting and they already know what is expected of them too.
 

Providing Clayton Donaldson can find his shooting boots this term I would expect Brentford to be a threat going forward.
 

And with signs of some promising youngsters coming through the system there could be more strength in depth in the squad from some unexpected sources.
 

The question is will the club’s Milk Cup heroes leave an impression in the first team in years to come or simply fade into non-league obscurity?
