What if?
Those two words will always haunt AFC Wimbledon after last Saturday's FA Cup tie at St James's Park.
Close to 1,500 fans made the game seem more like a home tie, with incessant noise, colour and support for the team in yellow and blue.
They were still cheering at the end of a pulsating game, which saw Exeter City 2-0 up before half-time but the Dons peg one back through Roscoe D'Sane just after the hour-mark.
D'Sane was stopped in his tracks by the referee's whistle for a foul on team-mate Steve Watson when clean through on goal in the last few minutes.
It was the first time the referee had not played advantage in the game.
What if he had let Roscoe go on? We shall never know.
Oh well, there is always next season.
However, roll out the bunting because an AFC Wimbledon side did make the first round proper, with the U18s making short work of Chelmsford City last week.
They won 6-0 to book their place in the next round, when they will host Thatcham Town next Wednesday.
The first team host Tonbridge Angels in the FA Trophy on Saturday (3pm), as they try to put the FA Cup disappointment behind them. Entry is £8.
