Sutton United recorded their biggest away win for over a year on Saturday when they won 4-0 at Bognor Regis to maintain a remarkable record. They are unbeaten in the last 12 meetings between the two clubs and have kept a clean sheet in the last eight.

Manager Ian Hazel's new signings Craig Tanner and Warren McBean looked immediately at home and Tony Quinton impressed on his return to United's colours.

McBean, who shared the top scorers' position at Farnborough last season, marked his debut by scoring one and creating two of United's four goals, while Charlie Ide's two goals rewarded an afternoon of non-stop running as a lone striker.

Sutton went ahead when Matt Gray's deep cross was headed back by Ide and volleyed spectacularly home by John Scarborough. McBean soared to convert another fine cross from Gray with a downward header.

Goalkeeper Luke Naughton denied Bognor by tipping Luke Nightingale's header on to underside of the bar.

Ide then grabbed two goals in as many minutes, finishing off excellent work by Gaynor, McBean and Palmer.

Sutton United: Naughton, Palmer, Tanner, Scarborough, Gonsalves, Quinton (Clayton, 69mins), Gray McBean, Ide, Gaynor (Johnson, 86mins), Alimi. Subs unused: Harris, Blackwell, Maan. Att: 312.

United visit Bedford Town on Saturday.

Sutton Reserves went out of the Suburban League Champions Cup last week when Corinthian Casuals overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit to win 2-0 after extra-time and go into the final 2-1 on aggregate.

United finished with nine players after having Nick Drew and Jason Henry sent off following an extra-time flare-up. Henry scored his 12th goal of the season on Saturday when his penalty earned a 1-1 draw at Hemel Hempstead.

Sutton's youth team won 2-0 at Croydon in the Southern Youth League thanks to second- half goals from Alec Brown and Harry Ottaway, but lost 3-2 to Chipstead in the Surrey Under 18 Floodlit Cup despite two goals from Tony Cuff.
