Whyteleafe secured a valuable 2-0 win at Fisher in their attempt to hang onto the coat tails of the leading teams at the top of the Kent League Premier Division.
However, it was a hard-fought affair with the host’s performance belying their lowly league position.
The visitors almost got off to a flying start within the first 30 seconds - Matt Ferdinando, returning from a short spell at Chipstead, put in Ollie Thornton down the left but he shot into the side netting.
Fisher responded well when Bryan Zepo went through one on one with Dave Wilkinson but slid his shot wide of the post, and on 12 minutes the Whyteleafe stopper saved an effort from Jason Mabbs following a poor defensive header.
The first half ended limply with a shot from Roscoe D’Sane being deflected for a corner which came to no avail.
Fisher nearly took the lead in the first minute of the second half when Zepo’s shot was deflected just wide.
After 55 minutes Leafe boss Steve Griffin made two substitutions - Getro Kilapi and Jerson Dos Santos replaced Ferdinando and Thornton - which appeared to change the game.
Bentley Graham should have opened the scoring in the 60th minute but fired over the bar after Ryan Maxwell had caressed a delightful ball inside the fullback.
But Whyteleafe were now on top and on 68 minutes made the breakthrough.
D’Sane latched onto a poor defensive clearance and clinically fired across the keeper.
And the game was eventually settled in injury time when a three on two breakaway saw Omar Folkes feed Dos Santos, who finished in fine style.
Leafe, fourth in table and 10 points off the top, travel to Cray Valley on Tuesday night.
