Met Police boss Jim Cooper is waiting on one more signature and then the team is ready to go, barring some fine tuning.

Cooper hopes to bring his squad to 19 ahead of the Ryman Premier League kick off at Enfield on August 10.

And now, with three pre-season games remaining (Corinthian Casuals,
a, August 1; Basingstoke,  h, August 3; Whitehawk, h, August 5), it is all about fitness and fine-tuning.

Cooper, whose side beat Moneyfields 7-0 on Saturday, said: “We tinkered with the formation a bit on Saturday, and that is what we’re about right now.

“There are some players still to get to full fitness, but by the time the season starts, we’ll be raring to go.”

He added: “I want a big squad going into the start, and then I’ll whittle it down after about five or six weeks. There are too many games early on to have a small squad.”

The final signature will bring the new arrivals at Imber Court to 12, following the captures of goalkeeper Stuart Searle, defenders Ricardo Joesph, Nick Hutchington and Max Fitzgerald, midfielders Manny Osei, Josh Gallagher, Pat O’Connor, Lee Carey, Simon Huckle and Will Bor, and striker Tobi Alabi.

Cooper said: “I cannot wait for the season to start, this is the point where things start getting exciting.”
