Carshalton Athletic are still searching for the sweet taste of a home victory following a third straight defeat at Colston Avenue.
The Robins lost 1-0 against Corinthian Casuals on Tuesday night meaning they have picked up just one point from 15 at home, in stark contrast to eight from 12 points on the road.
The defeat leaves Stuart Massey's men 16th in the Ryman Division One South table.
He said: "We looked a bit desperate as the second-half wore on against Casuals, but I must stick up for my lads.
"Our overall performance was a marked improvement from the 3-0 defeat to Hythe Town [Saturday], but the boys need to start thinking smarter on the pitch.”
He added: “It's key we start to find some consistency. Half that team on Tuesday was under 20 years of age but I don’t use that as an excuse.
"It’s just becoming clearer that we need to further instill certain ‘game knowledge’ into those boys.
“I’m confident with our support, and that of the more senior players, everyone will begin to see the best in us sooner rather than later.”
Massey also addressed a concern that his squad lacks a proven goalscorer after he saw his side fail to register for a third straight game.
“We don’t seem to have someone who looks like they could guarantee us 15-20 goals a season at the moment," he said.
"I am addressing the issue and hope to bring someone of that description in hopefully within a week or two."
Carshalton travel to Redhill this Saturday for an FA Cup first qualifying round tie, kick-off 3pm.
