Dan Bennett has settled in at Ks and is only too happy to repay boss Tommy Williams’ faith in giving him the freedom of Kingsmeadow.
The 27-year-old, who signed a contract with the club earlier in the season, bagged a double as Kingstonian beat Dorchester Town 2-1 in their FA Trophy second qualifying round replay on Monday night.
Bennett joined and left Farnborough four times to the frustration of manager Spencer Day, before finally quitting the club for good in February to join Ryman Division One South Redhill.
He has added much needed creativity to the hard working Ks midfield and it comes down to playing with a smile on his face.
“I’m a creative player so I’ll keep expressing myself as much as possible and that is what the boss wants me to do,” he said after his heroics set up a visit from Truro City in the next round next weekend.
“I’m enjoying my football, I’m happy and hopefully it shows on the pitch.
“It was ups and downs at Farnborough. It looked more negative from the outside than what it was.
“I’ve not got a bad word to say about my old manager.
“I’m buzzing to be here. They’ve given me the freedom if I work hard and I feel I’m doing that.
“Maybe I could do a bit more, but I’m in a good place.”
