Kingstonian U18s defender Jamie Summers earned a call-up to the England Schools' squad for the Centenary Shield this week in 2011, writes Stuart Amos.
The 18-year-old centre-back survived six trials to be named in the 18-man squad and was in line to make his first appearance in England’s opening clash with Northern Ireland.
The former Glyn Technology School student headed to north America at the end of that season bound for Radford University in Virginia – starring for the Radford Highlanders over the past four years.

Last year was his final season in the States and he scored seven goals in 20 starts as Radford reached the semi- finals of the Big South Tournament.
They were knocked out in the first round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men’s Soccer Championship 2-1 at Charlotte, North Carolina.
Summers’ older brother Dan plays for Carshalton Athletic.
, having also turned out for Kingstonian and Tooting & Mitcham United.Summers senior also spent time in America at Hartwick College and Syracuse University.
