The last time Kingstonian reached the Ryman Premier League play-offs the campaign ended in frustration, but striker Andre McCollin believes Ks are well placed to go at least one better this time around.
The 12-goal frontman forged a lethal partnership with Dulwich Hamlet striker Ryan Moss as Ks - under Alan Dowson - finished second in the league two seasons ago.
But promotion hopes were dashed in a 1-0 play-off semi-final defeat to AFC Hornchurch, bringing the curtain down on Dowson's reign at Kingsmeadow.
Ks, 2-1 winners over promotion rivals Bognor Regis Town on Monday night thanks to a McCollin double, are two points off the top five with five games to play.
And McCollin reckons the current crop of Ks stars are at least as good as, if not better than, the class of 2014.
"We were in a better league position under Dowse because we finished second in the table going into the play-offs," said the 31-year-old.
"But the squads are actually pretty similar. We had a good squad then and we have a good squad now.
"We had to win against Bognor because we knew that if we didn't it would make it very difficult to make the play-offs.
"It was make or break, but now we are two points off and still have a game in hand over Dulwich Hamlet. If we win all our games we will be all right.
"Sometimes it is better to make a late run for the play-offs because hopefully you can carry that momentum into the knock out games."
Ks, if leaders Hampton & Richmond Borough do not falter, are likely to face one of either East Thurrock United, Tonbridge Angels, Bognor Regis Town or Dulwich Hamlet should they land a ticket to the end of season promotion lottery.
And McCollin would be comfortable facing any of them for a place in the play-off final.
"I haven't player East Thurrock this season but I have heard they are decent," he added.
"You know Tonbridge Angels are a good side and are always going to score goals and we have just beaten Bognor.
"Bognor are good side who like to play, but we know if you close them down they run out of options and end up lumping it forward."
Kingstonian head to relegation-threatened Brentwood Town on Saturday.
