Corinthian Casuals boss James Bracken will have both eyes on one thing this weekend – themselves.
After a dramatic 3-2 win at Walton Casuals on Saturday, Bracken’s men climbed into the Ryman Division One South play-offs with one game to play.
It means they go host Three Bridges this weekend knowing a win will be enough to extend their season into the winner takes all play-offs.
The form odds are in Casuals’ favour as goals from Shaun Okojie, Josh Uzun and Jamie Byatt on Saturday mean they can boast six wins out of six.
However, Three Bridges will be no pushover as their 2-0 win at South Park on Saturday made it back-to-back victories.
Bracken said: “For the first time in months, our fate is in our own hands.
“We’ve won six games in a row and we’ve put in a lot to get to where we are. Now we know that a win on Saturday is enough.
“We’ll have both eyes on our own game next week. We’re in the play-offs. We don’t need to worry about anyone else. All we’ll worry about is winning.
“Doesn’t matter what our play-off rivals do.”
He added: “The players totally deserve the credit for this season, they’re the ones out here doing the work.
“Saying that, I’m probably more tired than they are. Dan Pringle [assistant manager] said to me that he’s got cramp in both legs and he’s on the side-lines with me. “We put in a lot of effort, but the boys put in more. They deserve the credit.
“They’re the ones who graft, that listen, that do what’s asked of them and they’re the ones who keep getting wins.”
While Okojie’s goal was his ninth in six games, taking his season’s tally to 17, Byatt’s was his first in seven.
Bracken said: “Jamie was long overdue a goal. I’m delighted that he’s popped up with the winning goal. I’m delighted for him because since he’s been back here, in terms of effort, he’s given everything. “He scored a couple on his first two games and since then it’s dried up. Jamie lives off of goals… that’s why he plays football.”
