If the likes of Jamal Lowe, Nicke Kabamba former AFC Wimbledon forward Christian Jolley thought they would walk into Hampton & Richmond Borough's starting line-up for the forthcoming National League South campaign, they will have to think again.
Beavers boss Alan Dowson, who saw strike legend Charlie Moone quit the club last month, added more competition for places to his goalscoring department at the weekend with the capture of former Woking favourite Giuseppe Sole's signature.
The 28-year-old, who has an England C cap to his name, spent 10 years at Kingsfield, but was not offered another contract at the end of last season and Dowson persuaded him to switch to the Beveree.
Honoured: Hampton full back Tom Jelley, left, was named in the Ryman Premier League team of the year this week
And Dowson has warned his forwards Sole's arrival means nobody can afford to let their standards slip.
"I think Gez will fit in well to our dressing room, and that it shows there won't be any complacency in it," he added.
"Everyone will have to earn their place."
Current Hampton full back Tom Jelley and ex-Beavers centre back Moussa Diarra were named in the Ryman Premier League team of the year this week.
