Carshalton Athletic’s revival continues as the club recently stretched its current unbeaten record to nine games in all competitions.
Fans of the Robins watched their team go through September without registering a single win, but Carshalton beat visiting Whitehawk 2-0 on Monday which was their fifth straight league win in a row.
The club also progressed into the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy last Saturday after defeating Harlow Town 3-1 at Colston Avenue.
And player/manager Peter Adeniyi and his coaching staff hope the players maintain a high standard ahead of a league encounter with Corinthian Casuals this Saturday.
“For us it’s about having a continuous progression that we’ve tried to instil since day one,” said coach Al Kurti whom joined the backroom staff at the start of this season.
“We’ve been delighted with the boys' work rate, both in and out of possession, and we limited Whitehawk to very few opportunities on Monday. There are moments in every game when things don’t go your way, but it’s about character and we shown lots of that recently.”
Another catalyst behind Carshalton’s fine run is the return of Omar Kormoa - the ex-professional striker hit 13 goals last season and currently has five in seven appearances despite missing the first two and half months of this one via personal reasons.
“Omar is still not fully match fit and it’ll be frightening to see what he can do once he is,” added Kurti.
“But this squad is full of match winners, the likes of Jerson (dos Santos), Tommy (Bradford) and Ricky (Korboa) can all change a game in an instant, plus our back four and goalkeeper are all working well together.”
Carshalton’s win in the FA Trophy earned them another home draw, this time against Walton Casuals whom the Robins had two close encounters with in the Bostik South last season.
“I know Walton’s manager very well so I’m looking forward to the game, but it’ll be centred around what we can. If we do the right things then we shouldn’t fear anybody,” said Kurti.
“As a unit we are clicking very well at the moment and long may that continue.”
Carshalton Athletic vs Corinthian Casuals takes place on Saturday 17th November (kick-off 3pm).
