Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson is set to wield the axe this week to halt a slide down the table that threatens his side's promotion hopes.

Ks have collected just seven points from their past nine Ryman League Division One South games, including Saturday's 2-2 draw at basement club Molesey.

A Bobby Traynor brace was not enough to give Dowson's men maximum points against their relegation-threatened rivals.

And the Kingsmeadow chief has decided enough is enough, with a new strike force and reinforcements at the back topping his shopping list.

"I have been threatening them with changes, I've tried putting an arm around a couple of them and nothing seems to be working," he said.

"I can accept getting beaten, but if we are not even prepared to work hard for it, then it is even harder to take.

"I have got to do something. I've been loyal to a lot of them and I will not feel guilty about letting anyone go, because they can't say they have not been given a chance.

"Some players have responded recently but, while there is the talent in the squad, there doesn't seem to be the guts. Winning doesn't just happen.

"The run we are in is relegation form at the moment. They are my signings, they are my team and it is time to get my finger out and sort this out."

Dowson is expecting to bring three players in and let three go before the weekend's visit of play-off rivals Dulwich Hamlet.

Kingstonian, who also face high-flying Met Police and Walton & Hersham over the next four weeks, are currently level on points with Saturday's fifth-placed opponents.

And Dowson admits it could be a pivotal clash for his struggling side.

"We missed an opportunity to go into this game with a win under our belts but, then again, we have been missing opportunities like that all season," he added.

"We have got some unbelievably big matches coming up over the next couple of weeks and they will go a long way to deciding where we will finish this year."
