Kingstonian 3 Dulwich Hamlet 0
Kingstonian bounced back from some indifferent displays to run out 3-0 winners over Dulwich Hamlet, one of the best footballing sides in Ryman Division One South, on Saturday.
Boss Alan Dowson rejigged his side by bringing in Tommy Williams from Boreham Wood, who crowned an impressive debut with the third goal.
Simon Huckle's switch up front also paid dividends as his subtle-but-dangerous flicks into the Hamlet goalmouth gave the visitors problems all afternoon.
Hamlet started strongly and, in the first minute, Dewayne Clarke darted into the Ks box and whipped in a cross from the right which went behind.
In the fourth minute, Williams upended Michael Kamara on the edge of the home box, but Shawn Beveney slammed the free-kick into the defensive wall and Billy Chattaway did the same with the follow-up.
At the other end, Wayne Finnie's throw fell to Bobby Traynor on the penalty spot, but he shot wide.
Clarke then took off on a long run down the left and picked out Beveney close in but he stumbled on the ball.
A Huckle flick fell to Jason Turley darting into the Hamlet box but frustratingly the ball wouldn't fall for him.
Then a lovely move and a feeling that the afternoon might belong to Ks.
NJ Lampton found Traynor out on the left. His sweet through ball set Dean Lodge free down the left and his low cross-cum-shot took a deflection and was just wide of the far post.
Then a high far post cross from Lodge was well held by full-stretch keeper Sheikh Ceesay.
On 23 minutes, Huckle again found Turley on the edge of the Hamlet box but his rising drive went over.
Two minutes later, though, Ks took the lead.
A Finnie throw from the right was flicked on by Huckle to BOBBY TRAYNOR close in and he made no mistake from close quarters.
Then a Lampton cross from the right picked out Lodge in some space but his first-time effort was straight at Ceesay.
On 33 minutes, it looked like the visitors were back in the game when Chattaway set Meshach Nugent free down the right in acres of space, Luke Garrard darted out to narrow the angle but the Hamlet striker fired over.
A Williams free-kick was snatched away by Ceesay from a lurking Lampton.
The half finished with a Beveney run down the right. He beat Finnie and picked out Clarke in the Ks box but he could only sky the ball over.
The second half started with a Williams free-kick on the edge of the away box, which he directed around the defesnive wall but straight to Ceesay on his line.
But no worry because on 48 minutes Ks went further ahead.
A Williams free-kick was headed on by Huckle into the Hamlet goalmouth where Ceesay, challenged by Ks skipper Simon Sobihy, couldn't hold on to the ball, which ran free for WAYNE FINNIE to poke home his first goal for his club.
Dulwich manager Craig Edwards made a triple substitution on the hour in an attempt to get something from the game.
It could have worked when sub Charlie Taylor burst into the Ks box but Lampton made a well-timed sliding tackle.
Williams replied with a 25-yard rising drive that went wide. Hamlet sub Benson Paka took off on a run but drove wide.
Then Traynor set up Turley and his 25-yard rising drive went just over.
On 79 minutes, Ks wrapped up the game when Traynor set up TOMMY WILLIAMS on the edge of the Dulwich box and his fiercely struck low drive was helped into the net by a diving Ceesay who got it all wrong.
A Chattaway corner was well held by a full-stretch Garrard and, into additional time, Lodge's run down the left saw a long crossfield pass to an unmarked Huckle way out on the left.
His drive from outside the Hamlet box was only just wide of the far post.
Ks visit Chipstead for the first time in their history on Tuesday.
The Chips, managed by former AFC Wimbledon boss Nicky English, have claimed some notable scalps in their first season at this level since winning the Combined Counties League last season.
