Kingstonian striker Saheed Sankoh's future at Kingsmeadow remains in the balance after boss Alan Dowson admitted he wants to add another striker to his ranks.

The 19-year-old was left on the bench for Saturday's 3-3 draw at Walton & Hersham, despite netting in last Tuesday's 2-2 draw at Chipstead.

Late goals from Bobby Traynor and skipper Simon Sobihy salvaged a draw for Dowson at his old stomping ground after Gavin Cartwright's spectacular opener at the weekend.

Central defender Cartwright has been deployed in midfield in recent weeks, with Simon Huckle preferred up front.

The move has hastened the departure of Matt York this week and, with Sankoh short on confidence in front of goal, he could be next.

Dowson insists the ex-Woking man is happy to fight for a starting place alongside Traynor, but he could have more competition by the end of the week.

Dowson said: "We need at least four forwards in the squad and I am working on bringing in one more by the weekend.

"I need to have that pressure on the frontmen to keep them on their toes and make sure they keep performing.

"As far as I am aware, Saheed is happy to fight for his place, but we will have to see how it goes over the next couple of weeks.

"It is all about bringing in better players than we have and, at this stage of the season, it is difficult to do that."

Saturday's draw kept Ks in the hunt for a play-off spot with 11 league games remaining, and Dowson insists 2008 can still be his side's year.

"People keep saying it is all about building for next season, but I think this season is the year we have to go up. We can't waste this chance," he said.

Dowson's men face Burgess Hill Town on Saturday before entertaining former boss Stuart McIntyre's Redhill in the Surrey Senior Cup on Monday night.
