Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Devonshire insists changes to his side for Saturday's trip to Welling United are not a sign of the pressure mounting at the Beveree.
Devonshire named trialist Leeyon Phelan on the bench as his side failed to score at home in a Blue Square South encounter for the first time since August on Saturday, going down 2-0 to Fisher Athletic.
Injuries and suspensions have taken their toll over the past month as the Beavers have taken only five points from a possible 15, leaving them in a fight for a play-off place.
But Devonshire thinks that tinkering with his starting line-up should keep his jaded players in the top five.
"I will make changes for the game at Welling because it will be the only way we can keep people fresh with the injuries and suspensions we have had recently," he said.
"It seems to be coming down to a fight between seven teams for the top five places and, with Eastbourne and Lewes bound to take the top two spots, it is getting close.
"We don't want to squander the position we are in. Saturday was the first time we haven't scored at home since we played Newport. We must bounce back quickly from this setback."
Hampton were never really at the races after the visitors took an early lead at the Beveree, where work is under way to increase seating capacity in the main stand by 50 seats.
The Beavers are splashing £25,000 on a host of ground improvements that must be completed in accordance with league rules by March 31.
By that time, Devonshire hopes his side will have already done enough to secure a play-off spot, providing they can start a good run of results at struggling Welling.
And the Hampton chief has warned his side against complacency.
"Last year we had a cracking run and it will take something like that to get us up there come the end of the season," he added.
"This weekend is a tough ask because they have a whole new set of players and will be a very different side to the one we beat 4-0 in January."
