Hampton & Richmond Borough's goalkeeper Matt Lovett has been selected in the annual Blue Square South All-Star team.

The team, as voted by the league’s managers, was announced at the Football Conference AGM and Dinner last week.

Blue Square South All-Stars: Matt Lovett Hampton and Richmond; Danny Allen-Page Hayes & Yeading; Chris Hussey AFC Wimbledon; Aaron Cook Newport County; Tom Cadmore Hayes & Yeading; Dave Rainford Chelmsford City; Tony Taggart Eastleigh; Tom Davis AFC Wimbledon; Danny Kedwell AFC Wimbledon; Jon Main AFC Wimbledon; Josh Scott Hayes & Yeading.

Lovett was also voted players’ player of the season by his Hampton team-mates.

Meanwhile, Hampton & Richmond’s womens team were at Wembley at the weekend, playing in the Umbro Fives National Tournament.

They were put in a tough group containing eventual winners Watford, Preston North End and Arsernal Reserves, and lost all three games.

But keeper Emma Marlow said having the chance to play on the same turf as their England heroes was an amazing opportunity.

“We were taken on the England Bus to the players entrance and to the changing rooms to get changed,” she said.

“Once out in the seating area we were starting to become extremely nervous! We were taken into the players tunnel and led out by the ref's with streamers flying everywhere and people shouting for us, it was an experience of a lifetime.”

The team: Emma Marlow, Steph Watson, Sammiey Day, April Riley, Katie Foster, Sarah Bryne, Laura Crickmer.
