Kingstonian picked up their first silverware of the season, the Trevor Jones Memorial Cup, for the first time against their old Conference foes Woking.

The visitors certainly started strongly striking the woodwork early on but the game turned with another special goal from on-fire Ks striker Bobby Traynor and then not long after excellent finishing from Carl Wilson-Denis doubled the lead.

A goalless second half started with wholesale changes for both sides and it was not until the later stages did the game start to spark again and by then it was too late for the visitors, although Joe McNerney was unlucky to see his header rattle the woodwork.

Before kick-off the past legends of Kingstonian and Woking, stewarded by legendary boss Geoff Chapple, played out a good-natured six-a-side game in front of the grandstand that resulted in a 10-nil whitewash for the home side.

Ks are away to neighbours Metropolitan Police next Saturday July 25th at Imber Court, kick-off 3pm.

The K's were industrious in the very first minute when Wilson-Denis took off down the right flank at some speed. His deflected cross still found a lurking Liam Collins but he struck the ball over first time.

The Cardinals responded with a cross from trialist Craig Barratt which K's defender Ryan Lake had to head out on the far post. On eight minutes striker Giuseppe Sole burst through the Ks backline finding James Faulkner but he struck wide.

A minute later Sole again broke down the middle of the park, Luke Garrard raced out to narrow the angle, and the Cards striker unluckily struck a post where Francis Duku was on hand to clear for a corner. On 15 minutes though it was the K's who broke the deadlock.

Lewis Cook's accurate and high crossfield ball from way out on the left found an unmarked BOBBY TRAYNOR on the far post and with determination he poked the ball past a stranded Ross Worner.

Five minutes later Wilson-Denis started a promising run but blasted the ball high and wide from distance. On 24 minutes though the K's striker went better.

After some good possession from Simon Huckle, Traynor out on the right, threaded a ball through to CARL WILSON-DENIS deep in the Cards box, he kept his cool and slotted the ball past Worner. Cook sent in a free-kick from out on the right that was well held by Worner on the near post.

Traynor then attempted a cheeky lob from distance that saw Worner smartly edge back to see the ball out.

Six minutes to the break a Tommy Williams free-kick was pulled out of the air by a confident Worner. Sole ended the half with an edge of the box strike that went straight to Garrard.

As subs and hopefuls trooped on for both sides constant interruptions saw the action stuck in midfield with neither keepers troubled. On 73 minutes a David Sintim corner from the left saw an unlucky Joe McNerney slam his header against the bar.

A Tom Hutchinson strike from the edge of the Ks box was straight at sub keeper Luke Naughton.

Ks sub Tom Dilloway took off down the left, his cross was pushed away by a full-stretch Worner but only to Ks sub Christian Jolley but again the Cards keeper made a fine double save.

McNerney's drive from 25 yards went just over. Billy Hussey's edge of the box free-kick struck the K's defensive wall, he made it to the rebound but his shot went wide. Jolley took off on a penetrating run down the right finding sub Scott Simpson but again Worner smothered his drive.

Matty Powell struck over from the edge of the K's box. Then with a minute to go Ks sub NJ Lampton tried to lob Worner with an edge of the box free-kick but the Cards keeper gathered at his second attempt.

Preceding the game the Legends clash saw Luke Naughton, Trevor Barron, Scott Steele, Andy Clement, Glenn Cockerill, Jimmy Dack, Martin Tyler and Matt Crossley line up for the Cards and for the K's Josh Willis, Phil Wingfield, Eddie Akuamoah, Gary Patterson, Geoff Pitcher, Wayne Brown, Scott Corbett and Frankie Vines.

The Ks tally saw braces from Akuamoah, Wingfield, Pitcher and Patterson. Vines and Brown helped themselves to a goal apiece.
