Hayden Bird reckons the bookies have got it spot on after a number of online firms installed Carshalton Athletic as second favourites for the Ryman Premier league title.
The Robins have been priced at 6/1 to lift the crown by Coral, trailing only moneybags outfit Dartford.
Sutton United come in third, before Tonbridge Angels and Billericay make an appearance.
Bird said: “I think those odds are pretty fair.
“I think Dartford are one of four or five teams that will challenge for the title - and I include ourselves in that category.
“In my opinion this year will see the tightest Ryman Premier division in years.
“I do not see any runaway winner like there has been recently - it is a much more even playing field.”
Having lost in the play-off final to Staines Town last season, Carshalton will certainly be aware of what is required this time around.
But the Robins boss has urged caution for any fan considering splashing the cash.
He added: “I still think it is far too early to assess how things will pan out.
“It is difficult to know exactly what other clubs have been up to.
“Squads have not been finalised and clubs are still looking at players, myself included.
“We need to get some games under our belt before things really take shape.”
