Billy Smith is confident he can tempt Craig Dundas into agreeing a deal at Imperial Fields after the former Sutton United powerhouse starred for the Terrors at the weekend.

Dundas, who had an unsuccessful trial at Carshalton Athletic earlier in the summer, appeared for Tooting in their 1-1 draw at Horsham YMCA on Saturday.

And Smith reckons the powerful midfielder would be a useful asset to his side.

He said: “I really like the look of Craig.

“Perhaps surprisingly he has never actually played for me before, but I have tried to sign him in the past.

“He could definitely do a good job for us.

“He is a big guy and he is not scared to do his fair share of work.

“I am sure he would do well here and I hope to have something tied up sooner rather than later.”

Dundas was just one of a handful of new faces lining up at the weekend, including Mitchell Nelson, Ryan Myers and Leon MacDowell, with former youth team star Adam Fletcher on target.

And the Terrors boss admits that with just over a week until the Ryman Premier opener at home to Waltham Abbey, he is no nearer to finalising his line-up.

Smith added: “I’m still looking and I am still moving players around.

“Most of the players are just getting half a game at the moment as I am giving everyone a chance.

“I know roughly which way I want to go, but I am not totally sure.

“I have been playing with a sweeper as I think we look more comfortable at the back like that.

“We will be running with a squad of 15 players this season so it is very important that we get the right 15 in, so I will not be rushed.”
