Tooting & Mitcham slipped to fourth in the Ryman Premier League with a 2-1 defeat by newly-promoted Aveley on Saturday.
Despite taking an early lead through Craig Pitterson, Billy Smith’s men never looked comfortable against the lively Aveley side and conceded two goals before half-time, including a Joe Vines own goal.
The result means Aveley leapfrog the Terrors into second in the table.
Tooting visit Ashford Town (Middlesex tonight) and then head for an FA Cup second qualifying round match at Canvey Island on Saturday.
Tooting & Mitcham’s next three matches: Sep 26 Canvey Island (FAC, a), Oct 3 Tonbridge Angels (h), 10 Sutton United (a)
