Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson says the futures of midfielders Tommy Williams and Liam Collins are in their own hands after the pair went out on loan last week.

The pair have barely featured since Dowson rang the changes to halt a miserable start to the season and spark a five-match unbeaten league run, a turnaround which landed Ks the Ryman League Premier Division team performance of the month award this week.

That stretch came to an end on Saturday when Kingstonian crashed to a 2-1 defeat at Neville Southall’s Margate, seven-days after their FA Cup exit by the same score at the hands of Hendon.

Williams and Collins, who played key roles in last season’s Ryman League Division One South title campaign, joined Ashford Town (Middx) and Leatherhead respectively last week on one-month loan deals, as Dowson bids to get them game time and perhaps inspire a return to form.

And the Kingsmeadow chief, who added former Ks favourites Bashiru Alimi to his squad last week, admits he cannot be 100 per cent certain whether they will return to the club.

“They are quality players and they need games it is as simple as that,” he said.

“They aren’t getting games here at the moment, but I don’t have to worry about them going anywhere else for another month at least.

“It is something that could change. They are still part of my plans, but it us up to them really.”

Saturday’s second 2-1 defeat in the space of seven-days kept Ks mid-table in the Ryman League Premier Division, but Dowson insists it is not a return to the five match losing they opened the campaign with.

“There is no need to panic. There is not a lot wrong. We lost two games in the 90th minute, so we will be working on concentration levels this week,” he added.

“We’ll also be getting the five-a-side goals out making sure nothing is hit over head height, because we started launching it at the weekend which doesn’t suit us.”

Ks host Cray Wanderers on Saturday and Dowson hopes he will be smiling come the final whistle.

“We always have a good laugh with them. They are a great club, funny people and we get on really well,” he said.

“They play football the right way, but hopefully we’ll have the last laugh at the weekend.”

Kingstonian’s next three games: Oct 10 Cray Wanderers (h), 13 Billericay Tn (a), 19 Beckenham Tn (SSC,h).
