Ian Hazel has set a target of six more wins from the last 12 games as he looks to guide Carshalton Athletic to Ryman Premier survival.
Back-to-back away defeats have seen the Robins slide back into the drop-zone, the most recent Tuesday night’s frustrating 1-0 loss at Bognor Regis.
But Hazel reckons his team have got what it takes to stage a great escape.
He said: “If we win six more games we will be safe, I am pretty confident about that.
“People keep saying we have to win this game or that game, but I honestly do not mind where the wins come from as long as we get them.
“With this team we seem to be capable of beating anybody or losing to anybody.
“We just have to stay positive and have the confidence to get ourselves out of this situation.”
Carshalton came unstuck 3-1 at Hastings United on Saturday despite a Charlie Ide strike, and were guilty of wasting a host of chances as they slipped up at fellow strugglers Bognor in midweek.
Despite the setbacks, caretaker boss Hazel insisted on looking on the bright side.
He added: “At Hastings we were poor but in the last four games that has been our only real bad performance.
“Against Bognor we were by far the better team and I cannot believe we did not win.
“We had so many chances but just did not take them.
“I did not lay into the players after the game because the performance was good and everyone was demoralised enough as it was.”
The Robins face lower table opposition in the next three games in the shape of Hendon, Tonbridge Angels and Margate.
And the Athletic boss admits his side need to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible.
Hazel added: “There is no doubt we have a good enough squad to move ourselves up the table.
“It is a case of staying positive, keep passing the ball and take our chances.
“Obviously we need to do that sooner rather than later.”
Carshalton Athletic’s next three matches: Mar 13 Hendon (h), 16 Tonbridge Angels (a), 20 Margate (a)
