Ian Hazel is hoping the Colston Avenue factor will pay dividends as Carshalton Athletic battle to avoid the Ryman Premier drop.
After Saturday’s clash at Ashford Town the Robins play four of their final six fixtures at home, including games against fellow strugglers Margate, Billericay Town and Cray Wanderers.
And Hazel reckons that advantage could prove crucial.
He said: “Everybody knows our away form has not been great and we have to make the most of our home games.
“The key for us will be to get something at Ashford and try and stay in touch - we have to keep things close.
“If we can go into those home games with a chance we have a great opportunity to get out of this.
“The message I have given to the players is ‘no regrets from here on in’ and I expect each and every one of them to give their all.”
Byron Harrison notched his first goal for the club in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at bottom club Margate.
And Hazel has been delighted by the form of his new striker.
He added: “Byron has been thrown in at the deep end a bit and I still think there is more to come from him.
“He seems to be finding his feet and getting better with each game, and I am hoping that that first goal will really see him kick on.”
The Robins caretaker boss also admitted last week’s broadside from frontman Richard Jolly may also have paid dividends.
Jolly took a swipe at his misfiring teammates both in our pages and online, and Hazel was only too happy to read his remarks.
Hazel added: “I think Richard’s comments have helped matters.
“There were a few players in the dressing room who were too tentative, and getting that stuff out in the open got everybody talking.
“Now is the time to stand up - players want to be involved in big games and although these are at the wrong end of the table, there are definitely big games and we have to respond.”
Carshalton Athletic’s next four matches: Mar 25 Hendon (a), 27 Ashford Town (a), 30 Margate (h), Apr 3 Billericay Town (h)
