Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson will swoop on forward Bas Savage providing he doesn’t sign for League One Dagenham & Redbridge this week.
The 40-year-old manager has not been impressed with the performances of some of his men, despite seeing them sat third in the Ryman League Premier Division table.
And he wants former Tranmere Rovers man Savage, a player he discovered as Walton & Hersham boss, to give his squad a wake-up call having already hinted he might raid crisis club Croydon Athletic.
“I got Bas his first break into League football. I’d basically got it sorted until Dagenham said they wanted to have a look at him,” he said.
“If he doesn’t sign for them - or does on a non-contract basis - he’ll be in the squad for Saturday. He’s told me he will not play for any other non-League club.
“We’ve played well this season, but some of our players have not been performing. They know who they are.”
