Kingstonian bounced back from their home defeat by Maidstone United 48 hours earlier by turning on the style at fellow high-flyers Hendon on Monday night.

Ks scored early goals from full-backs Tom Bird and Dean Hamlin before Lee O’Leary’s long-range strike brought Hendon back into it.

Although the hosts equalise 15 minutes from time through another wonder goal from Jamie Busby, Ks won it when Dean Lodge latched onto Bobby Traynor’s through ball to secure three valuable points.

After two minutes, Lodge had gone as far as he could way out on the left flank. He pushed the ball back to attacking defender TOM BIRD whose high cross cum shot sailed over full-stretch keeper Berkley Laurencin and into the far corner of the Hendon goal for a perfect start top the game.

Then Gary MacDonald sent in a long high ball into the Greens box which just missed a diving Matt Gray.

After 16 minutes pacy Greens winger Lubomir Guentchev tried to pick out Scott Cousins deep in the Ks box but Max Hustwick made a well-timed challenge.

A long high searching ball from Cousins was picked out of the night sky by Ks keeper Rob Tolfrey.

After 24 minutes, Ks struck again when a cheeky backheel from Gray, set Bird free in acres of space down the left, his far post cross picked out DEAN HAMLIN who bundled the ball home for his first Ks goal.

A Lee Hall chip into the Greens box was swiped away by Laurencin before Traynor could react. Then the K's could have killed the game off when a rampant Hanmlin took off down the right, he cut back to Traynor in space in the home box, but he belted the ball towards Wembley Stadium.

After 31 minutes Hendon were back in contention when a short run from LEE O'LEARY saw him let loose a fierce, rasping drive from some 25 yards that flew past a full-stretch Tolfrey.

Then Green striker Belai Aite-Ouakrim took off along the edge of the K's box but sliced his eventual drive wide. Danger man Guentchev then tried to find Aite-Ouakrim deep in the K's box but again Hustwick was there to mop up.

Hendon continued the pressure straight from the restart.

Two minutes after the restart, striker Paul Robinson was blocked by Adam Thompson deep in the Ks box.

A Cousins corner from the left was met with a powerful header from Greens skipper James Parker but Tolfrey did well to push the effort away at full-stretch. Lodge replied with an effort from 25 yards that was straight at Laurencin on his line.

Hall's long ball set Lodge free in the Greens box and what looked like a push was met with a strong appeal for a penalty from the K's travelling army.

After 62 minutes Robinson's rising drive from 25 yards bounced off the Ks bar.

A Danny Dyer cross deep into the K's goalmouth for Aite-Ouakrim was seen out by Thompson. A training ground rehearsed free-kick from the edge of the K's box resulted in a cheeky Guentchev half-volley that Tolfrey tipped away at full-stretch.

Then a searching Guentchev cross was headed away by sub Tobi Jinadu. On 74 minutes the home side crowned their pressure with style when JAMIE BUSBY unleashed a 20 yard strike that curled around a full-stretch Tolfrey.

Straight from the restart Ks midfielder Jean-Sylvain Dossou fed a ball through to Traynor just inside the Hendon half.

His flick split the Hendon backline allowing DEAN LODGE to go on a long, mazy run, pursued by an army of defenders, he took the ball out to the left and then fired low into the far corner on 75 minutes.

A long ball from Gray set Lodge free down the right but his strike was just the wrong side of the far post. With two minutes to go Hamlin took off down the right but his drive was straight at Laurencin.

Then sub Gomez Dali, signed from Woking, took off a long penetrauting run into the Hendon half but his eventual drive was too soft to worry Laurencin.

Three minutes into additional time a long high ball from Green sub Kevin McLaren deep into the Ks box was coolly headed by Hamlin back to his keeper.
