Bobby Traynor earned Kingstonian a replay after a dour FA Cup encounter at Margate on Saturday.

Both sides had good chances late on but it Ks who were denied a late late winner when a Lee Hall effort struck wood in time added on.

Margate took the lead on 22 minutes when ex-Ks man James Pinnock nodded his side in front from close range only for Traynor to equalise a minute later.

After that, the game was pretty much over as a spectacle and the sides meet again at Kingsmeadow tonight (Monday 7.45pm).

The game camer to life in the third minute when a long searching ball from defender Aaron Lacey was punched clear by Ks keeper Rob Tolfrey, but only to midfielder Jay Saunders, whose lob went over the bar.

Hall then picked out Dean Lodge in the home box but just as he turned he was flagged offside.

A rising drive from Hall from distance was pushed out by Turner.

Matt Gray took off on a long run from his own half finding Lodge in the Gate box but central defender Curtis Robinson, rightly voted man of the match, cut the ball out.

A Lacey cross picked out his striker Shaun Welford deep in the Ks box but he headed wide.

Gray replied curling in a pacy free-kick from the left which was seen out by Robinson. Then Welford took off at some pace down the left breaking through the Ks backline but a perfectly-placed Tolfrey blocked the Gate striker's powerful drive.

After 22 minutes, a Wayne Wilson corner from the right was headed on by an edge of the box Robinson deep into the K's goalmouth where JAMES PINNOCK edge the ball past Tolfrey.

Straight from the restart Gray took off down the middle of the park letting loose a thunderous drive which smacked against the bottom of the post.

Then a Bird cross found Lodge just inside the home box, he unselfishly set up BOBBY TRAYNOR, and he drove the ball low into the left-hand corner past a diving Turner.

Another Bird cross from the right was headed over by Gray. Then Bird took off down the left, his eventual cross found Dean Hamlin out on the right post, but his header landed in the side-netting.

It wasn't until the hour mark did anything substantial happen when Gray set Lodge free in the away box but his attempt to chip was too close to Turner and so he held on to the ball.

Two consecutive long throws from Lacey, out on the left, were both cleared by Ks skipper Adam Thompson, stationed in the heart of the Ks defence.

A short free-kick from Gray set up Bird on the edge of the Margate box but his drive was blocked for a corner.

Consecutive Ks corners from both Bird and Gray were efficiently cleared.

A Traynor header aimed deep into to the Margate box was held by Turner with sub Gomez Dail lurking. Then Tolfrey darted out to the edge of his box but only got a hand to the ball, Gate sub Craig Cloke got to the loose ball first, but chipped the ball over the bar.

Then Ks started to threaten. A 25-yarder from Gray was pushed out by a full-stretch Turner.

With seven minutes to go a Bird corner from the left found Dali close in but his powerful header was met with a superb point-blank save from Turner, who tipped the ball over the bar.

A perfectly-timed tackle from Max Hustwick stopped Welford deep in the K's box. In the final minute Robinson's edge of the Ks box drive was deflected past Tolfrey but an offside was spotted.

With three minutes of additional time, and the game still up for grabs, Welford took off down the left but his eventual drive was straight at the outcoming Tolfrey. Then in the second minute of extra time Hall's rising drive from 25 yards slammed against the bar.
