Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson wants his players to put their money where their mouth is and prove they can cut it in the Blue Square South by shocking St Albans City on Saturday.

Ks travel to Hertfordshire in the FA Cup third qualifying round having edged past league rivals Margate on penalties last time out.

Dowson’s men are second in the Ryman Premier League table - after Monday’s 1-0 win over league leaders Sutton United - with big ambitions to climb into the second-tier of non-League football.

And the Kingsmeadow chief, whose side stand two wins from the first round proper, is looking for his men to step up to the plate.

“This is the biggest game of the season and I’m desperate to do well. We’ve got a chance,” he said.

“We’ve got a lot of players who say they can play at that level, it is now up to them to go out and prove they are good enough.

“If we get to the Blue Square South I don;t know how we’ll get on. It is a big step up for us.

“If we can get there with £200,000 from a big cup run in our back pocket, it will make life a lot easier.”
