Kingstonian assistant boss Mark Hams hailed ‘an all round team performance’ as Ks put in a dominant showing at play-off rivals Canvey Island to grab a 2-0 win.
On an unseasonably sunny March afternoon, the visitors' midfield ran the show from the word go and Hams sung the praises of the entire team.
"You couldn’t pick out a single player that was struggling,’ he said.
"If we’d have come away with a three or four nil win, I’m not sure they could have had any complaints."
Bobby Traynor put Ks in front from the penalty spot following a foul on Saheed Sankoh, yet talismanic Traynor could well have had five on another day as he spurned chance after chance in the second half.
“It’s excellent to be creating chances, Bobby is much sharper now, but we’ve got to put those chances away," added Hams.
"In my opinion, he’s still the best striker in this division."
It wasn’t only Traynor who was guilty of missing chances as Ryan Woods hit the bar and saw shots go narrowly wide, while Sam Clayton, Matt Pattison and Ian Gayle all forced the hosts' keeper James Russell into action.
But it was Gayle who eventually secured the points, heading home from a well-worked free kick as Traynor added an assist to his goal.
Traynor more than merited accolades in a hard-working performance, but the real stars were behind him as a superb midfield created numerous chances, while the defense barely offered a sniff to the hosts.
Hams said: “We were solid and difficult to break down, we had everything you ask for in terms of defending.”
Woods and Gayle continue to stand out for the Ks in a team full of guile and creativity, yet backed by a solid backline and in-form keeper.
For the first time all season Ks have some genuine momentum, and a real shot at the play-offs - leaving Hams to remain optimistic.
“If we keep being professional and tough to beat we might just give our supporters something to look forward to at the end of the season," he said.
